Who We Are

All clubs belonging to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington abide by a single Mission

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington is to help boys and girls of all backgrounds, especially those who need us most, build confidence, develop character and acquire the skills needed to become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults.

and one Purpose

A Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place to learn and to grow through life-enhancing programs and character development experiences supervised by caring, adult professionals.

Our Club has clearly defined Objectives which are:

  1. To decrease the number of unsupervised youth who are home alone by providing a safe, productive and fun place for them to stay after school hours
  2. To decrease the likelihood of the youth joining neighborhood gangs or participating in other negative behavior
  3. To increase the likelihood that students will complete and turn in homework and be academically prepared for the next school day and through the school year
  4. To reinforce the participant’s awareness on the benefits and practice of good nutrition and physical well-being
  5. To have the youth develop an interest in hobbies which involve music and the arts

While within the Clubs’ premises, our kids abide by a Code of Conduct based on the following practices:

  1. Play fairly and be honest.
  2. Bring your membership card everyday.
  3. Be respectful of Boys & Girls Club staff.
  4. Say only good things about others.
